FAQs

A Celebrant is someone who officiates at a ceremony to mark a momentous occasion, a Wedding, Funeral, Hand fasting, Baby Naming or any other celebration or commemoration of life.

As an independent Celebrant I’m not linked to any religion. I’ll work with you to write a ceremony that truly reflects you and your personal beliefs.

The ceremony I create will be about you, your loved one or your baby, personal and unique.

I’m not religious myself but I respect and honour other religions, spiritual beliefs and cultural rites; they really interest me.

I’m more than happy to include religion if that’s what you would like.

Yes I was trained by FOIC, the Fellowship of Independent Celebrants

They are a UK based official body committed to the development, growth and training of celebrants, to the highest standards.

The simple answer is no.

At present all marriages, must be registered in a government office, usually at your local council. In the UK we are used to this happening when the wedding ceremony actually takes place, either at a council registry office or even at a church.

In many other countries marriages are registered separately, much like how we register births and deaths in the UK.

Couples that I marry have decided that they would like a unique wedding on their terms, in a venue of their choice and so they have a civil, registry office ceremony, usually with minimum witnesses present, as a process of legally registering the marriage.

I recommend doing this before their Celebrant Wedding.

When I marry them, that’s the Big Wedding Day!

Many couples don’t want a Church Wedding but they don’t realise that a Civil Wedding can be very restrictive, constrained by timings, locations and rules. You would need approval, from the registry office, for any music or readings that you may want to include and no religious content is permitted at all.

When you work with a Celebrant, it’s your dream day, your way, no restrictions or rules.

Absolutely! It’s my pleasure (and job) to bring it to reality.

I don’t mind how unusual your ideas are either. It’s your day and all about reflecting your personalities. I’ve officiated at themed weddings, included funny vows and even sung parts of ceremonies (I’m not a singer).

Creating the ceremony is where the excitement starts, so give me a call.

No problem!

When we meet I’ll ask you a whole heap of questions about yourselves. This will enable me to gather inspiration, so that I can make suggestions to you about the type of ceremony that I believe will suit you. Together we will find a direction and style of ceremony you are comfortable with.

It will always be your choice though.

It’s your day, so anything you want!

You can follow a traditional, recognisable ceremony structure or you can turn the whole day on its head and do something really different and exciting. If you want to include religion, cultural tradition or even combine several together that’s ok. Classical music, your favourite club track, a hymn or maybe all three, none of it’s a problem.

So, whether you’d like it simple and understated or totally over the top. It’s all up to you.

I am based on the Costa del Sol in Spain and work anywhere between Malaga and Tarifa including Gibraltar.

If you are planning a ceremony elsewhere I’m more than happy to discuss being your celebrant but please note than in this case any travel and accommodation costs would have to be added to my normal fee and initial meetings may be over Facetime, Skype or by phone.

UK Weddings. I also have a base in the UK, so please ask for my UK availability.

My fee includes our first provisional, meeting.

If you decide I’m the Celebrant for you, any other meetings within an hour’s travel time from Manilva, where I’m based, are included. Of course we can meet virtually on line if you prefer or by phone as many times as you wish.

I also include a rehearsal at the wedding venue or another venue of your choice, within an hour’s travel time from Manilva.

On the day I’ll be there early to have a quick chat with you both and liaise with your wedding planner, photographers and videographers.

I provide use of my PA system and microphone for venues in the Costa del Sol.

You’ll get a certificate for you and your witnesses to sign during the ceremony.

At the end of the day you’ll receive a copy of the ceremony script and the certificate for you to keep.

Travel and accommodation costs, if the wedding is outside the one hour travel time.

PA system if the venue is outside the Costa del Sol.

Cost of large props or Hand fasting cords.

Don’t worry, fire away!

Just drop me an email, text message or give me call.
